Menu photo sizes and rules on Just Eat, Deliveroo and Uber Eats

Sizes, file types and rules for item and header photos on all three apps, side by side, from each app's own help pages, including what Just Eat does not publish.

The short answer

Take one landscape photo of one dish, centred, in good light, with no text and no people. Save it as a 4:3 JPEG of at least 1600 x 1200 pixels, under 8MB. That fits every size limit Deliveroo and Uber Eats publish, and the ratio Just Eat asks for. Just Eat UK does not publish a pixel size or file type, so nobody can promise more than that for Just Eat.

Checked against each app's own help pages on 19 October 2026. Each section names its sources and their dates; Uber's help pages carry no date. Rules change, so the app's own page is the one to trust. MenuSync is an independent service, not affiliated with Just Eat, Deliveroo or Uber Eats.

One photo for all three apps

  • 4:3 landscapeThe ratio Just Eat asks for, and inside Uber's recommended 5:4 to 6:4 (4:3 sits between them).
  • At least 1600 x 1200 pixelsWell above Deliveroo's 1200 x 675 minimum and inside Uber's limits. 1200 x 900 is the smallest 4:3 size that clears Deliveroo.
  • JPEG, under 8MBDeliveroo takes JPEG only, up to 8MB. Uber takes JPG up to 10MB.
  • The dish in the middleDeliveroo shows item photos as a square. On a 4:3 photo a centred square keeps the middle three quarters of the width, so leave space at the sides.

This is our reading of each app's published limits, not a rule any app has set for the other two. Just Eat UK does not publish a pixel size, file type or file size, so for Just Eat only the ratio can be checked. If Partner Hub shows a limit when you upload, that limit wins. Header, hero and cover images

The big image at the top of your listing has a different shape on each app, so one photo will not fit all three. Shoot it wide, keep the food in the middle, and crop a copy for each app.

  • Just Eat: header image2:1 landscape, no stretching or borders. One main header and up to 10 more scheduled, for example for seasons. Any text should be legible and simple. Just Eat says header photos go live within 48 hours of confirming it has them.
  • Deliveroo: hero imageAt least 1920 x 1080 pixels and at least 5 dishes. It should work at 16:9 and at 3:2, which Deliveroo is testing, so keep the food centred and away from the edges. Reviewed by Deliveroo's team before it appears.
  • Uber Eats: cover image2880 x 2304 pixels, JPEG, 5:4. A simple background, not just one product, no storefront; Uber does not recommend people in shot. Uber says review can take up to 3 working days.

What gets a photo turned down

All three apps want the same basics: one item, in focus, well lit, the food as it is served, and a photo you have the right to use. They differ on a few points.

  • People and handsJust Eat: no people or hands. Deliveroo: no hands or faces. Uber: no people, “except for hands”.
  • Text and logosJust Eat: no text over the dish, logos to a minimum. Deliveroo: no text or watermarks. Uber: no text, logos or watermarks, except on the food or its packaging.
  • AI-generated imagesDeliveroo: not permitted. Just Eat UK's photo page asks for “photos owned by you” and does not mention AI. Just Eat's Irish page adds “don't use AI-generated images”. Uber's guidelines do not mention AI; the photo must accurately represent the item.
  • EditingJust Eat: do not stretch or rotate. Deliveroo turns down obvious editing, collages, cluttered backgrounds and dishes not fully in frame.

Upload a photo on Just Eat

Just Eat UK says dish photos are uploaded in Partner Hub under Management, then Menu/Items. Its step-by-step is a video on that page, not written steps. The header image is under Marketing, then Customise Storefront.

For a pre-packaged product such as crisps, drinks or ice cream, Just Eat can add the photo for you from the barcode:

  1. In Partner Hub, go to Management, then Menu/Items, then Add new.
  2. Choose item and add the name, price and category.
  3. Under Additional details, type the barcode number into the GTIN box.
  4. Tap Save, then Publish. Just Eat says the photo appears within 24 hours.

Just Eat UK does not publish a review time for dish photos. Sources: Just Eat UK, Photos on menu (updated 1 September 2026) and Adding images of pre-packaged items (updated 23 April 2025). For the rest of Menu Manager, see how to update your Just Eat menu.

Upload a photo on Deliveroo

  1. Open Menu Manager in Partner Hub, choose the menu and click Edit menu.
  2. Click the item and select Upload photo.
  3. Read the quality check result. Deliveroo may offer an enhanced version, which you can accept or replace.
  4. Click Save, then Publish.

The result is approved, turned down with a reason, or sent for a person to check. For the hero image, click the image icon at the top of the menu, then Upload photo, Save and Publish; Deliveroo's team reviews it first.

Upload a photo on Uber Eats

  1. In Uber Eats Manager, open Menu Maker and click Overview.
  2. Click the item to open the Edit item panel.
  3. Under Photo, drag the photo in or click Browse files.
  4. Click Save, then Request Approval when asked.

Uber approves the photo or asks for a new one, and says it may then edit its size, orientation, lighting or colour. A pending photo can be withdrawn with Cancel photo update. The cover image is under the Shops Page tab, then Cover image.

Photos the apps add or change

A photo on your listing is not always one you uploaded. It is worth opening each app and looking.

  • Just Eat: AI-generated imagesJust Eat's UK page, updated 25 August 2026, says it has added AI-generated images to some items that had no photo. To stop new ones: in Menu Builder go to Settings, find “AI-generated menu images”, choose Disabled and click Save changes. That does not remove images already added. For each one, open the item with Edit item, click the red bin icon, click Delete, then publish the menu.
  • Deliveroo: added or improved imagesDeliveroo says it may add, reuse or improve eligible images. You can review an updated photo in Menu Manager and keep it, replace it or remove it.
  • Uber Eats: edited photosUber says it may edit the size, orientation, lighting or colour of an approved photo.

Prices in images on Just Eat

Just Eat's search results page, the list customers see before they open your menu, has a UK rule on images. It says an image, banner or pop-up that shows a product and a price must be removed. Just Eat links the change to the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024.

  • Remove“Pizza from £12”, “Meal deal for £10”, “Any menu item for £12”.
  • Can stay“Fresh stonebaked pizza”, “20% off selected items”, “Free delivery”.

Just Eat says the rule does not change your menu, where prices show as normal, and that its page is not legal advice. Source: Just Eat UK, Keeping your search listing compliant (updated 10 February 2026).

Paid photography

Deliveroo offers a professional photoshoot in two packages: Silver, with 1 hero photo and 15 item photos, and Gold, with 1 hero photo and 25 item photos. It does not publish prices; you ask through Partner Hub. If you have your own photos, Deliveroo says to upload them in Menu Manager or send them through its ‘Get in touch’ form.

Who can use your photos

  • Just EatIts UK partner terms (clause 10.6, dated 18 December 2025) give Just Eat a royalty-free licence to use your photographs for the agreement, including marketing, which it can sublicense. The photos stay yours.
  • DeliverooYou must own or have the rights to the images, and Deliveroo says you bear responsibility if someone claims a photo infringes their rights. Stock and search-engine images are not accepted without the rights.
  • Uber EatsBy uploading, you confirm you have the rights and sub-license the photos to Uber, including the right to modify them.

Questions

What size should Just Eat menu photos be?

Just Eat's UK photo page asks for dish photos that fill a 4:3 landscape frame with no borders, and header images at 2:1 landscape. It does not publish a pixel size, file type or file size.

What size should Deliveroo menu photos be?

At least 1200 x 675 pixels, landscape, JPEG, up to 8MB. Deliveroo crops item photos to a square, so leave space around the dish. Hero images need at least 1920 x 1080 pixels and at least 5 dishes.

What size are Uber Eats menu photos?

Uber's UK guidelines allow JPG, PNG or GIF up to 10MB, 550 to 10,000 pixels wide and 440 to 10,000 pixels high, with a 5:4 to 6:4 ratio recommended. The cover photo is 2880 x 2304 pixels, JPEG, 5:4.

Can one photo work on Just Eat, Deliveroo and Uber Eats?

Yes, by the limits each app publishes: a landscape 4:3 JPEG of at least 1600 x 1200 pixels, under 8MB, with one dish in the middle and space around it. Just Eat UK publishes only the ratio, so the size and file type cannot be checked against Just Eat's own rules.

Why is there a photo on my Just Eat menu that I did not upload?

A Just Eat UK page updated in August 2026 says Just Eat has added AI-generated images to some items that had no photo. You can switch this off in Menu Builder, under Settings, "AI-generated menu images". Switching it off does not remove images already added: delete each one from the item and publish.

Can I use AI-generated food photos?

Deliveroo says AI-generated images are not permitted. Just Eat's UK photo page asks for photos owned by you and does not mention AI; Just Eat adds AI images itself, and its Irish page says not to use them. Uber's guidelines ask for a photo that accurately represents the item.

Can my images show prices on Just Eat?

Not on Just Eat's search results page. Its UK page (updated February 2026) says images, banners and pop-ups there must not show a product with a price, such as "Pizza from £12". "20% off selected items" and "Free delivery" can stay. Your menu itself is not affected.
